One of the latest trending news worldwide is about North Korea. It looks like the food crisis has badly hit North Korea. The prices of essential food commodities have risen tremendously.
According to the reports, in the North Korean capital city, Pyongyang essential food items are being sold at a very high price like a packet of coffee for $100 (Rs 7,414), bananas at $45 (rs 3,335) and black tea packet at the cost of $70 (Rs 5,190).
Kim Jong-un, the supreme leader of North Korea himself admitted that the food-related conditions in the country are currently "tense" during the meeting with the central committee. Kim also quoted, " The people's food situation is now getting tense as the agricultural sector failed to fulfil its grain production plan due to the damage by a typhoon last year".
Kim Jong-un also urged the party leaders to work on solving the food shortage situation in the country during the meeting.
The severe flooding and the cross-borders due to the Covid pandemic are some of the main reasons for the food crisis in North Korea.
